Cerebral Palsy

Caring, expert support that helps you live life on your terms — with confidence, freedom, and dignity.

We’ll build a care plan around you — and the life you want to live. Our team is trained to support people of all ages with a range of needs, including complex dependencies. Whether you’re studying, working, or simply trying to enjoy life with more independence, we’re here to help.

We’ll match you with a carer who gets it — someone who’s there not just for the essentials, but for the day-to-day things that really matter: getting to college, heading to work, grabbing lunch out, or just having someone by your side when you need it most.

If cerebral palsy is just one part of your care needs, we’ve got the expertise to create a complete, personalised support plan that adapts with you.

Frequently Asked Questions

Your Questions, Answered with Care

Cerebral palsy refers to a group of lifelong conditions that affect movement, coordination and posture, usually caused by an injury to the developing brain either before, during or just after birth.

No two people experience it in the same way, but common challenges can include stiffness, involuntary movements, difficulty with balance or muscle control — all of which can change how someone navigates the world.

Yes — there are four main types, and many people live with a combination of them. Each one affects movement and coordination differently:

  • Spastic cerebral palsy – the most common type, causing stiff or tight muscles and difficulty with movement.

  • Dyskinetic cerebral palsy – causes uncontrollable, jerky or twisting movements in the arms, legs or face.

  • Ataxic cerebral palsy – mainly affects balance, coordination and depth perception.

  • Mixed cerebral palsy – where someone experiences symptoms of more than one type.

We tailor our support around the person, not the condition — because it’s the individual that matters most.

Not at all. Cerebral palsy affects everyone differently. Some people may find walking more difficult, others may need more help with coordination, or experience seizures, pain or fatigue.

That’s why we don’t believe in one-size-fits-all care. We take time to understand each person’s unique needs and strengths — and support them in a way that makes sense for their life.

There is currently no cure, but with the right support, people living with cerebral palsy can thrive.

Therapies, routines and consistent care can make a huge difference — improving mobility, easing symptoms and giving families peace of mind. Early intervention can be especially helpful, and we’re here to walk that journey with you every step of the way.

Cerebral palsy itself isn’t progressive, which means the brain injury that caused it doesn’t get worse.

However, without the right care, certain symptoms can become harder to manage over time. That’s why consistent, person-led support is key — to help maintain independence and quality of life for the long term.
